Product Details

Antique Early King George III Era Superb, Pre Duty mark, Rare and well preserved example of a Top Quality Drinking Cup in English Sterling Silver, fashioned after a stylised Cooper pattern featuring a double strapped, perpetual banded gallery to the body enclosing a central set Crest on one side featuring the engraved image of a Knights Armoured arm holding a Falchion Sword.

The cup stands 9.7 cm tall or 3.8 inches and is gently tapered in shape from the brim to the foot and has a diameter at the rim of 8.2 cm or 3.25 inches and a diameter at the base of the foot of 7 cm or 2.85 inches.

The cup would have served originally as a drinking vessel and was later no doubt used as a Chutney mug at a table setting.

A Fantastic Antique piece impressed to the base with good clear markings indicating London assay office circa 1766 with the makers mark for Francis Butty & Nicholas Dumee.

The Cup weighs 141 Grams or 4.53 Ounces.
